Women’s and fetal health imaging covers screening and diagnosis that affect millions of women every year — breast cancer screening, gynaecological imaging and prenatal ultrasound.

Fair Mammo builds bias-aware foundation models for breast cancer screening that perform equally well across populations, with cohorts from Lebanon and international datasets, and with the German University in Cairo we develop cost-effective AI for breast lesion detection with ultra-sensitive optical sensors. In fetal medicine, with the Department of Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine at the University Hospital Bonn, we worked on deep learning for fetal diaphragmatic hernia detection in ultrasound and co-authored a systematic review of AI in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.

Fairness across populations and deployment in resource-limited settings are central to this work.
