PhD Candidates, Postdocs, Visiting Researchers and Interns — with your own funding (m/f/d)
Join the lab with a scholarship or fellowship — as a PhD candidate, postdoc, junior group leader, visiting researcher or intern. Find a funding programme for your country, and we support your application.

We welcome excellent researchers who would like to join the Albarqouni Lab at the University Hospital Bonn and the University of Bonn with their own scholarship or fellowship — for a PhD, as a postdoc or independent junior group leader, for a research visit, or for an internship. Our research covers trustworthy and affordable AI for medical imaging, from medical foundation models and federated learning to point-of-care imaging; see our research areas.
Who we are looking for: applicants with a background in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, Medical Informatics or a related field, with solid programming skills and a strong interest in AI for medical imaging.
How it works
- Find a programme that fits your country, career stage and plans (see the list below). Check its eligibility criteria and deadline carefully.
- Apply to us with the form below. Tell us which programme you are aiming for, when you plan to start, whether you already meet the criteria, and which documents you need from us.
- We get back to you. If your profile and topic fit the lab, we discuss your research plan and provide the documents the programme asks for — for example a letter of invitation, a confirmation of supervision or a letter of support. Please apply at least 6–8 weeks before the programme deadline — or at least 3 months before if the programme needs a research proposal that we develop together (for example DAAD, Humboldt, Marie Skłodowska-Curie or Walter Benjamin).
