Navigation Concepts in Interventional Imaging (NCII)
A seminar at TU Munich’s Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP) on image-guided interventions: tracking, registration, visualisation and their clinical applications.
About the course
Offered at the Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP), Technical University of Munich, under Prof. Nassir Navab, with Shadi Albarqouni as tutor and course organiser.
Image-guided interventions are medical procedures that use computer-based systems to provide virtual image overlays, helping the physician to visualise and target the surgical site precisely. The seminar starts with a historical overview and covers the component technologies of tracking, registration, visualisation and software, with clinical applications in neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and the cardiac and thoraco-abdominal areas.
In SS 2016 each participant, or pair of participants, surveyed the literature on a selected topic, identified its challenges and limitations, and then presented a novel idea, preferably based on machine learning, to address them.
Learning objectives
- Survey the literature on a topic in image-guided interventions and identify its challenges and limitations.
- Propose and present a novel idea, preferably based on machine learning, to address them.
Target audience
Evaluation
- Literature review report and presentation.
- Free-style presentation of a novel idea.
