We co-organized the 5th MICCAI Workshop on Distributed, Collaborative and Federated Learning (DeCaF 2024) on 10 October 2024 at MICCAI 2024 in Marrakesh, with keynotes by Daniel Truhn (University Hospital Aachen) and Laurent Condat (KAUST).

On 10 October 2024 we held the 5th MICCAI Workshop on Distributed, Collaborative and Federated Learning (DeCaF 2024) at MICCAI 2024 in Marrakesh (Conference Center, Borj 6). The workshop is a forum for methods that let hospitals train models together without sharing patient data — federated, distributed and collaborative learning, privacy and security, non-IID data, efficient communication and real-world software tools for medical imaging.

Keynotes

  • Daniel Truhn (University Hospital Aachen): Overcoming Barriers to Implementing Federated Machine Learning in Healthcare: Policy Options for Ethical and Secure Data Collaboration
  • Laurent Condat (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, KAUST), on optimisation for federated learning

Organisers: Shadi Albarqouni (University Hospital Bonn and Helmholtz Munich), Xiaoxiao Li (University of British Columbia), Nicola Rieke (NVIDIA), Spyridon Bakas (Indiana University), Qi Dou (Chinese University of Hong Kong) and Holger Roth (NVIDIA). Details: decaf-workshop.github.io/decaf-2024. The series continued with DeCaF 2026.
