Presented RISE-MICCAI, which I co-founded with Islem Rekik to bring researchers from low- and middle-income countries into the MICCAI community, at the joint Women in MICCAI and RISE event and the RISE networking event at MICCAI 2021.

At the virtual MICCAI 2021 conference, Islem Rekik (Istanbul Technical University) and I introduced RISE-MICCAI, the network we co-founded within the MICCAI Society, at two MICCAI Society events on 29 September 2021: the joint Women in MICCAI (WiM) & RISE Event, with a keynote by Amy Diehl on “Female scientists and the pandemic: surviving or thriving?”, and the RISE Networking Event.

RISE sets out to make MICCAI more inclusive and geographically diverse, to strengthen the presence of researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) and under-represented communities, and to build a research network that helps reduce global disparities in health and imaging. At the time of the event the network had 88 members.
