David is currently a PhD candidate supervised by Prof. Dr. Shadi Albarqouni. He earned his master’s degree in AI from FIB, which is a joint program of UPC, UB, and URV. In 2019, he achieved the top spot in the SIIM-ISIC competition for skin lesion classification and has published his work at VISAPP 2023. David has a keen interest in utilizing technology for the betterment of society and intends to make contributions to AI in the field of medicine through his work at Albarqouni Lab.
Razieh Rezaei
Researcher
Razieh is currently working as an ML researcher at Prof. Dr. Shadi Albarqouni’s lab. She earned her Master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering from TU-Munich. While pursuing her Master’s, she completed an internship at BMW, where she worked on ML projects, and concurrently conducted her thesis in AI. Later, she worked at LMU-Klinikum as an AI researcher working on the medical applications of Graph Neural Networks, Transformers, and Explainable AI. She aspires to have meaningful contributions to the intersection of AI and medicine while working at Albarqouni Lab.
Sarah Schaab
Master Student and Research Assistant (HiWi)
Sarah is currently conducting her master’s thesis at the University of Bonn on AI for medical imaging under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shadi Albarqouni. She is a Master student in Computer Science at the LMU Munich, specialising in Artificial Intelligence. During her studies, she gained practical experience as a working student in software engineering, where she developed mobile applications to help people with aphasia and dyslexia.
Nada El Darra
Visiting Scientist
Dr. Nada El Darra is an accomplished Lebanese Associate Professor of Food Safety and Technology, currently serving as the Coordinator of the MSc program in Food Safety & Technology at Beirut Arab University. With a distinguished career, Dr. El Darra holds the esteemed position of being an active member of the Arab-German Young Academy for Sciences and Humanities. In recognition of her expertise, she has been appointed as an expert in the Food Safety committee by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.
